The library is close to several Tube stations (Tottenham Court Road, Russell Square, Holborn) and in walking-distance from the British Library, the LSE, UCL and the various colleges and research institutes in Bloomsbury.

Join the GHI Library
The library is open to the public free of charge, but we ask you to register with us at your first visit. Please bring a passport photo and recent proof of address (utility bill etc.). Registration is possible throughout opening hours, it is not necessary to make an appointment.
Readers with Disabilities
Access to the GHI from the street is via a few steps. However, a ramp can be provided to enable wheel-chair users to enter the building. A lift connects all floors of the building and there is also a toilet for disabled visitors available. Please contact us in advance if you need help.
Library Services
Staff is available to answer inquiries and help you with your research.
There are facilities for photocopying, and a reader-printer and scanner is available for microfilm and microfiche.
The price of the photocopying cards is as follows:

Digital cameras can be used to photograph books provided the flash is turned off.

WiFi is available free of charge to registered users. Please inquire at the reception desk to receive a password.
Internet access is also provided via the computer terminals in the reading rooms according to our Internet Use Guidelines.
