Welcome to the German Historical Institute London and our virtual entry for this year’s Open House Festival. Because of the ongoing pandemic, we had to make the difficult decision to revert to an online-only presence. In order to give you an insight into our beautiful building we have recorded a welcome from our director Christina von Hodenberg and a virtual tour through our library. We would also like to invite you to explore the long history of 17 Bloomsbury Square and the square itself with a timeline that will take you from Holborn in the Middle Ages right through to the present day.
